Of the Bookshelf| Not Meant to be Broken

Amber is broken, her life came crumbling down after she suffered an attack, she never recover and even her parents didn't know how to treat her. In a desperate call for normality she decides to move in with her brother, Brian, who she barely sees and knows since the attack, but when she walks in and founds that he's not living alone, her luck begins to change.
Zach's a womaniser with a broken past and a bad image from their parents' luck, when Brian described Amber as broken, he imagined something else, someone different, but as soon as he sets eyes on her, he knows, she's not meant to be broken and he may be able to help even if that means changing his old modus operandi.
They both know that this one is a risky bet, one in which not only broken hearts are in stake, but more a lot more, maybe they are ready to be pushed to the edge.
What I liked:

  • The plot: Talking about assault is not easy and that for, it's not really talked about in the community, but it was handled in a really sensible way and it showed how a victim gets to live with those scars for the rest of their lives.
  • Amber, as a character was really interesting, I really liked knowing what was going through her head as her life began to change, her thoughts and how she reacted to everything around her.
What I didn't like
  • Zach and Brian: They are walking stereotypes and they really don't like using their common sense, you really get to be mad at them in multiple times and sometimes it makes you feel a little bit frustrated about everything they do or how they react as soon as life becomes a little bit harder.
  • The ending: It was short and it was missing the essence of the rest of the book.
It was an okay book but it didn't amaze me, I feel like the plot had a lot of potential but adding cliche Y/A elements messed it up for me. I wish it was good and a recommendation, but we'll have better, for me it gets 3 out of 5.
