Of the Bookshelf| Storm and Silence

Lilly Linton one of the smallest Linton was left in custody of her aunt and uncle after her parents dead, through those years she has shown to be really stubborn as she denies herself from marriage or anyone that may have that interest in her. All she wants is freedom, but freedom in the 19th century is not common. Girls are supposed to get married, not to have a job, let alone be by themselves.
But after a series of events Miss Linton is faced with a new nemesis as she meets Mr Rikkard Ambrose, the man who may turn her world around.
What I liked:
  • The characters, even the little ones have an amazing personality and they complement the story, they are not added just for the sake of it.
  • How powerful the female character is, there's no denying that she stays true to her believes and wants to fight for them, making Lily Linton one of my favourite leading characters of any novels.
  • The references, you can see the research that the author did as they stay true to the century the book is supposed to be in and all the details he added while writing it.
  • The twists, they keep you switching the pages and not all of them are about bed things, you can see comedy, love and a little bit of lust as the characters evolve and interact a lot more between them.
What I didn't like:
  • There were a few chapters that were filling, they brought nothing to the story and I found myself wanting to leave the book in some of them.
  • The ending (I'm going to hate myself for this), it could have been a lot better. The author knows how to do endings, the second book was even better than this one and the ending was more concise.
I love myself a good historical novel and this one didn't disappoint. It isn't your usual love story, it has cliffhangers, comedy, empowering moments and just a little tiny bit of lust. It has everything you can wish for and more. For me it's a 4.5 out of 5.
