Of the Bookshelf| Marriage of Inconvenience

Kat Tanner is one sweet, quite reserved girl, she works a 9 to 5 job and enjoys knitting just as everyone else in the group. No one will expect something big to bring her apart from them until Kat's past catches up with her. She may not be your average next door girl. With her family's empire to run and many pasts mistakes, Kat has a lot of explaining to do, from why did she change her identity to why did she decide to marry Dan, the hot security guy, in Vegas.

What I liked:
  • Kat's character was lovable and sweet but with a really deep past that made her mor than just your average female character. She's empowered when she sees her family in trouble and decides to help even when that means blowing her facade.
  • Dan is one of the sweetest male characters in the series, he decides to help Kat without caring about his business. He spends most of the time helping her and pushing her away just so she doesn't get hurt.
  • The romance between the two of them was amazing, she was trying to protect everyone around her and Dan was trying to protect her even if that meant risking his life.
  • The secondary characters played a really good part in all of this, we saw recurrent characters along with some new ones and they were helpful in the story not just add-ons, which in my opinion made the story a lot better.
What I didn't like:
  • The second to last half (and this is a recurrent problem with all Penny Reid books), it starts well, continues well and then the story seems to be stretched to the last bit to make the book longer and, at least for me, it doesn't make sense. It brings problems that aren't relevant to the story and makes me want to put the book down.
It's a good book, not my favourite from the series but one I would actually pick up again. It shows a different set of difficulties for the characters and it was nice, not only did it involve more than one character, it also involved new characters that made the story evolve really steadily and made it more enjoyable. For me it's a 4 out of 5 stars.
