Of the Bookshelf| F*ck Love

We all experience unsettling dreams, we all have nightmares but what happens when you can't just wake up? A dream is a dream, but what if it shows you a different reality, one that seems better than what you have now.
Helena knows who she is, or at least that what she thinks. Up until that dream she knew she was destined to work on an office, have a nice office, drink beer and live in Florida, but that little glimpse into a different reality changed more than her sleeping schedule.
What I liked:

  • The plot was about a love story with a twist. It centres around Helena's struggle to find herself and her way after one unsettling dream that changes her view in life.
  • The writing style, it was a really well written book. This was my first book from the author and I can see why people love her view and her narrative.
What I didn't like:
  • Kit, Della, even Helena were really superficial characters. It was impossible for me to connect with any of them. For me, Kit was the hardest to understand, he was giving and taking from Helena's life and she was letting him do it.
  • The ending was too nice, I wish they could've made Helena suffer less and make her take more care of herself instead of going behind someone that wasn't making up her mind.
It was a good book. Tarryn Fisher knows her style and she does amazing things to a story but this fell short. It had a lot of potential but there were points in which Helena just seemed to be running around in circles. For me it's a 3.5 out of 5.
