Of the Bookshelf| Slammed

Layken's life is turned upside down when her father dies and she's forced to relocate with their mother and little brother far away from their ranch and sunny Texas, everyone seems to enjoy the move except from here, she's sinking in pain and no one can really help her.
However everything changes when Will enters his life, being a lover of slam poetry, he impresses Layken with an amazing first date, but as soon as they start to get along everything is slammed by a sudden realisation. How do they deal with the daily interaction while falling for each other?
What I liked:

  • The plot: There was a point in which these stories were trendy but in this particular book we get to see a little bit more of their personal lives as they start their story together, it portrays a not so dramatic past and a confusing future, they involve more characters and make the story more interesting.
  • Layken as a character is really strong, she's really  stubborn and approachable, in those breakdown moments you can really identify with her and her cleaning.
  • Their relationship grows and moves in a normal paste, no one rushes into anything and even when they are apart they support each other, they work through misunderstandings and it's a normal relationship with a twist.
What I didn't like:
  • The ending: It was a little weak after everything that goes through between them but in the second part it redimes itself.
It's a good story, it represents the way Y/A novels were laid out before bad boys and affairs, it's a really good book if you are staring yourself in this genre. For me it's a 4 out of 5.
