Jessica James, a newly graduated college student, is back in town just for a few months as her plans unveil and her travelling dreams near. For her, being back in town doesn't only mean being closer to family, it also means being closer to Beau Winston, the loving one of the Winston twins, the one boy she always had a crush on.
Duane, the other half of the Winston twins, has always had a crush on Jessica, all the way to their child years, but her fascination with his twin brother has definitely taken him aback, until one night mistakes are made and identities are confused. Now it's his opportunity to take a chance on the girl of his dreams, but with the intermission of the "Iron Order" and all of her family members, will they be able to work it through?
What I liked:
- Jessica James' character is really funny and in some ways relatable as she's a teacher, college graduate and has tried to leave her small town to go for bigger things.
- Duane and the interaction with his brothers. They are close and they have been through a lot that has reminded them that they are their best when they are together.
- The plot twist in the middle of the book, we aren't seeing just a love story develop but also the fixing of many years worth of problems with the Winston family.
What I didn't like:
- The beginning of their love story was going too slow in certain parts for me. She hangs on to the idea of Beau for longer than needed.
- Her family, they portrait a really closed, really conservative family.
This is the beginning of one of my new favourite series from Penny Reid, she knows how to carry N/A and take that little bit farther. She creates a different personality for every character. It's refreshing, light and interesting. For me it's a 4 out of 5.
Mayte.
