Of the Bookshelf| Life on the Leash

Cora is woman with priorities and a love so big for dogs that they became her life. After a terrible incident with a dog in her childhood she decides to make her mission to help every furry friend out there to have a great life and after a bad breakup she becomes so immersed on that mission that forgets that there's a world out there, until Charlie appears on her life. Well Charlie and Eli, the cute geeky new friend. Maybe dog leashes aren't the only ones getting tangled up.
What I liked:

  • Cora's look on her job, she presents herself as a really professional and caring dog trainer that has dedicated her whole life to learning more and more about dogs.
  • There's a lesson in there, don't trust the douche bag. I enjoyed the approach of the not-so-easy love triangle and how she became so involved with both characters yet she was unable to decide until the end.
  • How she incorporates little dogs lives into the story. It made for a really sweet, funny romantic comedy.
What I didn't like:
  • The lack of Eli and chemistry between he and Cora. It seemed like there was just one part in which the characters were really into each other and it suddenly changes everything but she's still reluctant.
  • Charlie's last parts, it became evident that the author was making him look more like a douche bag, yet she really stretched the story and made Cora seem too naive.
  • The ending was too perfect. After everything that goes around in the book she's suddenly living her best life out of nowhere. It lacked context.
I enjoyed the book, it was light, it was easy, it was everything I expected, yet it felt short. My biggest problem is the lack of context in some parts. For me it's a 3.5 out of 5, something worth reading.
