Of the Bookshelf| Collecting the Pieces

By L.A. Fiore
Sidney Ellis found love twice, once when she was broken, the second one when she knew more about life, but this is not the story of how she found a home and a family that was willing to take her in, this was about that time she found someone that was looking for a home and someone to be with, even when he was denying it.

What I liked:
  • The plot: This story is not centered in high school sweethearts, or how they found love in each other, this story is about moving on from that first love after something happens, it's not about flowers and heart, but how love can help heal past pain.
  • The characters: They have their own personality and don't change even when they get together, they stay true to who they are and are not afraid to let their personality shine through.
  • The acceptance and help: It touches sensitive subjects but in a mature way, it's not about the person that it's sick, it's about how it affects the others and can change their lives if they don't do something.
What I didn't like:
  • The first part, all together, for me it was too rushed and too sweet and a little bit too cheesy. You understand it as you go on, and it makes more sense if you see it as a memory, but nonetheless, if you are starting, you are going to feel like everything is moving too quickly.
  • The ending: As soon as the second part starts, you get into the hang of things and it goes in a nice paste, but once you reach the ending, everything happens, it's like a bomb that falls on you and it all goes too quickly.
It's not the best romance I've ever read, but it has amazing points here and there, it gives you a sense of what true love feels like, mostly in the second part. It's light reading and I would recommend it for when you have free time and you are looking for something more than your average Y/A novel.
