We are responsible for us, for our actions and most of the time we don't take it seriously, stepping up for what you want means stepping up if something goes wrong, that's something our moms say a lot as we grow up "You have to start being responsible for what you do" and we never take it to seriously until we have problems.The truth is that as much as we would love to stay as little kids and hide from our responsibilities we can't, it comes with the package of growing up. 

So what if instead of avoiding them, we take full responsibility even if something goes wrong, at the end of the day we are not perfect, it's okay to fail, that'll give you the chance to learn from it, that includes what we said or did, sometimes we "forget" when it was bad thing, 'cause "how are you going to remember something that made you look back?" Be aware of what you say, do or want.
If you really like something (or meant it), you won't have that much of a problem.
